The parish is offering for sale limited edition prints of a painting by John Gibb (1831-1909). Gibb was well known for his realistic rendering of water scenes. A native of Cumbernauld, Scotland, he arrived in Canterbury in 1876, at a time when there was little oil painting being done in New Zealand. The parish's painting, "Eventide" is a view of that stretch of the Avon River adjacent to the Burwood All Saints Parish Church in New Brighton Road. The print measures 600 x 400 mm plus border.
Gibb was renowned for his near 'photographic' renditions.
